HEATHER WATSON crashed back to earth with a straight sets defeat in Phoenix yesterday.
She lost 6-2, 6-4 to Canadian Heidi El Tabakh in the first round of the Goldwater Women’s Classic.
Born in Egypt, 24-year-old El Tabakh is a far more experienced player than the Sarnian and was able to show it to her advantage against the newly-crowned Toronto champion.
On a day of shocks in Arizona, the No. 3 seed, Mirjana Lucic, also lost in the first round.
