Health escapes cuts in spending

HEALTH and Social Services will be the only department to receive an above-inflation budget increase next year, under plans unveiled by Treasury today.
The department has released the Budget for 2011 and announced plans to cut – either in real terms or actual – the amount of money departments will have available to them next year.
HSSD looks to have escaped the clampdown on spending, as its budget is set to be increased by £4.15m. (4.1%) to a total of £105.4m.
The department also receives an additional £2.05m. to give as a grant to St John Ambulance and Rescue, taking its total cash limit to £107.45m.
