We got value for our money, says PAC over Wales audit

GUERNSEY got value for money from its work with the Wales Audit Office, the Public Accounts Committee has said, after allegations surfaced that the organisation charged public sector bodies millions for work it never carried out.
The WAO produced a Review of Good Governance in the States of Guernsey but the PAC has said that it confirmed the terms, conditions and costs in advance, as it did with all third parties.
A spokesman said: ‘The governance review for the States of Guernsey undertaken by the WAO was with strict reference to those terms and conditions and the committee is entirely confident with the quality of the resultant report.’
The costs quoted by WAO and accepted by the committee were invoiced and paid after the work was completed, not in advance. Value for money was achieved, as considerably more work was carried out than initially estimated, he added.
