AVANT GARDEN was back in operation at the weekend after a tree fell onto its marquee premises.

It caused extensive damage and almost crushed owner Nick Martel and employee James Brehaut.

The 100-year-old beech tree at Sausmarez Manor was uprooted in the high winds on Friday morning and crashed onto the large tent.

The tree was removed with the assistance of Simon Marshall, from tree surgeons Special Branch, and a crane supplied by Bob Froome and Sons.

The marquee then had to be made safe by Mark Webb from Event Services.
