THE champions are off and running.

Panthers might have looked understandably rusty at times against the Island Under-21s on Friday night at Beau Sejour, but when they wanted to up their game they did just that to begin their Legis Division One campaign with a comprehensive 51-point victory.

‘It is always nice to get a big win,’ said coach Pat Ogier.

‘The players were a bit rusty – there were some good aspects, but also some aspects we need to work on.’

The youngsters certainly wanted to mix it with their illustrious CI champion opponents and in the opening exchanges they matched them on the scoreboard.
