ISLANDERS are being asked to help prevent the spread of cholera in Haiti.
The disease has been increasing at a rate of 1,000 new cases per day over the last three days.
Almost 1,000 people have died and around 14,000 have so far been hospitalised. The disease is present in six out of 10 provinces.
Sarah Griffith, founder of Bridge 2 Haiti, has launched Hydration 2 Haiti and is asking islanders to donate either a box of rehydration salts or the equivalent of the cost of a box.
She is leaving for Haiti on Friday morning and wants to take 2,000 packs, which have been requested by a hospital in one of the cholera-struck towns.
