Latest milestone probably the last for Le Sauvage

ON FIRST inspection, Sunday’s Pleinmont to Grandes Rocques 10km event might have seemed like just another race.
But for Mick Le Sauvage (pictured) it brought up a quite staggering 7,000 competitive racing miles.
The 71-year-old first raced way back in 1959 and has been a virtual ever-present for Guernsey walking during that time, clocking up the miles with alarming regularity, including 37 Church to Church walks.
But the jovial veteran, who sees himself as ‘part of the furniture’, insists that previous figures mean nothing once they are done and dusted.
‘I don’t remember when I reached 6,000 miles or any of the other round figures because it is just another race really,’ he said.
