ROVERS ATHLETICS has put entering a UK county cup competition as one of its future aims.
A statement on Monday night announced that Athletics were to merge with Rovers to form the new club from the beginning of the 2011-12 season.
For the remainder of this campaign, Athletics have pulled out of all GFA competitions with immediate effect and have encouraged their players to join Rovers.
Part of the statement read: ‘Rovers and Athletics have both shared the same ambitions and aspirations to not only become a major force in Guernsey and CI football, but also to play in UK competitions. Firstly via a county cup route and then a suitable UK league, which was the initial reason for the creation of Athletics.’
