A MAN who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis about 30 years ago is planning a sponsored effort up the climbing wall at Le Murier School.

Paul Diligent, 54, will be raising money for the Guernsey Cheshire Home, of which he recently became the newest resident.

The former Customs officer will pull himself up the five-and-a-half metre wall, supported by a safety harness.

He aims to make 12 climbs in total, collecting a letter from the top each time which, when put together, will spell Cheshire Home.

In 1991, Mr Diligent completed the equivalent distance of the London Marathon on an Aerobicycle to raise more than £1,000 for the Action and Research into Multiple Sclerosis charity – commonly known as Arms.
