Up to States if we get royal wedding day off

GUERNSEY will not automatically follow the UK if it announces a public holiday to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
In the past it has been customary for a holiday to be declared on the day of a royal wedding.
But a Commerce and Employment spokesman said any decision would have to go to the States before being announced here.

For public holidays to be designated as a one-off – as would be the case to mark a royal wedding – the States would have to agree to amend local legislation.

Flippin heck, I find this really over the top, the amount of attention this couple are having. I would never have expected the entire country to grind to a halt for a day just cos I got married.

Slep, while i agree with you to an extent and i’m sure you’re smashing, you aren’t the future King of England…

Hilarious!
Not that I will live long enough to see William become King
Lets just hope for once our government reps discuss it between themselves first so the vote goes through on the nod (whatever way it goes)

Why don’t they simply marry on a Saturday and save us all this debate?
