Passenger fumes after 68 are delayed for the sake of one

Dennis MerrettA PASSENGER on a Flybe flight between Jersey and Guernsey was outraged when it turned back to pick up somebody it had left behind.

Dennis Merrett (pictured) was on the triangular flight that runs between Gatwick and the Channel Islands on Sunday when the captain announced, after setting off for Guernsey, that the aeroplane would be returning to Jersey as one passenger had been left behind.

‘Why reroute when the journey to Guernsey was half done and the mistake unavoidable?’ said Mr Merrett.

A spokeswoman for the airline said the safety of its passengers and crew was its number one priority and that had at no time been compromised during the flight.

‘This decision was made to satisfy regulations in reconciling what appeared to be a paper document discrepancy that in no way was connected to any issues related to safety and security.

I was on the same flight and totally agree with this passenger. To add to the incompetence, there was no duty free available either as it had not been loaded!!!

    unbelievable!!

    Plane fumes or Passenger fumes?
Hey! Lucky you were not on an Islander that flew part way to Jersey until pilot realised ~~ Alderney!

I bet you’d be complaining if you were the left behind passenger too

I’d have been absolutely livid if I’d been on that plane. It’s bad enough having to put up with delays and cancellations caused by the weather, ‘technical’ problems and firemen’s strikes, but when the airline itself decides to go back for a ‘missing’ passenger…

Also, if I’d been the passenger ‘left behind’ I wouldn’t expect the plane to go back for me. Do you know who that passenger was Fran? The Chief Minister, an employee of the airline, the pilot’s wife? This story smacks of rank favoritism or even nepotism.

This beggars belief. Who paid the extortionate landing fees or this escapade, us I suppose!
