Red flags hold over qualifying shootout

ANDY PRIAULX was left waiting to discover his grid position for the first race of the Macau FIA World Touring Car Championship weekend after four red flags interrupted the qualifying session, which was called to a halt as darkness fell before the top 10 shootout in China.

At the end of the 30 minutes of track action, which took about an hour-and-three-quarters to run, the triple world champion was eighth quickest in his BMW.

While Priaulx did not cause any of the four red flags, he did have his own accident halfway through.

Soon after the start of a lap he went into the barriers coming out of a right-hander and ripped off the front left wheel.
