Barton’s boot seals victory for league leaders Guernsey

GUERNSEY were grateful that it took Nick Barton just one kick to sort out his radar as they grinded out a hard-fought victory over London Cornish on Saturday.
With a strong breeze blowing at Foote’s Lane, the home side’s outstanding No. 8 had seen his first penalty attempt early on drift wide on the wind after what he had felt was an ideal strike.
He made the necessary adjustment and was perfect from the tee from that point onwards, clinching the game with a penalty six minutes from time after the battling visitors had just levelled the game.
