A NINE-YEAR-OLD double amputee has been paying tribute to Guernsey’s Help for Heroes charity efforts.
Lydia Cross is a patron of the charity. She lost both her legs below the knee when she was aged two, after suffering meningitis and septicaemia.
However, that does not hold her back and she was in Guernsey for the local branch’s annual black tie mess dinner at the Rocquettes Hotel. She flew in from Exeter especially for the evening, which marked her first visit to the island.
‘It is an honour to be here,’ she said.
‘Guernsey is really nice and seems like an amazing place.’
