Tragedy of preventable deaths

NINETY per cent of lung cancer deaths last year were preventable, according to the director of public health.
Dr Stephen Bridgman (pictured) made the comments following the release of his annual report and appealed to people to consider themselves and others before lighting up.
Last year, 33 islanders died of lung cancer. He said many of those cases were attributable to smoking and therefore could have been prevented.
‘People don’t seem to realise how serious it is.
‘For each of those deaths I feel sad – they may be numbers in the report but they are individual cases,’ he said.

Voice for Victims is a campaign aimed at promoting the rights of those affected by child sexual abuse.
Mr Bridgman, in my estimation there is only one efficient way to stop smoking, and that is with the aid of Allan Carrs psychology based book ‘The Easy Way To Stop Smoking’. I know because I have done it myself.
My suggestion is that you ( or the applicable states dept) acquire and distribute free of any charge to smokers a copy of the above mentioned book. You will have amazing results.
Or perhaps one of Guernsey’s many multi-millionaires could do the right thing……
