English FA gets tough with clubs

GUERNSEY’S seven senior island football clubs could be told to run their own league competitions next season as the FA in London get tough.
And in addition to proposing that the Guernsey Football Association take care of solely the governance of the game, development and representative football, the FA are backing a move to give the GFA more power over the clubs, who have enjoyed the capacity to out-vote the association in recent times and, as a result, booted out large sections of the controversial four-year plan.
In a nutshell, the FA have tired of ploughing money into the local game and see the local association unable to deliver key objectives in the face of stubborn clubs. They have also been concerned over the high turnover of disenchanted salaried GFA staff.
The GFA and representatives of the island’s senior clubs met on Monday to discuss the proposed constitutional review and Mark Le Tissier (pictured), the GFA chairman, said yesterday that it had been a ‘very conciliatory meeting’ attended by representatives of all the Division One clubs, plus Centrals.

Voice for Victims is a campaign aimed at promoting the rights of those affected by child sexual abuse.
Guernsey football is another part of Island life which could excel at a very high level, but is hampered by people with no vision and intent on shoring up their own position of power.
Hope the GFA wash their hands of the clubs and let them dig their own hole to oblivion.
