A visit to the control room in Normandy was staged on the 10th anniversary of the Channel Islands Electricity Grid.
AN ELECTRICITY link installed between the Channel Islands and France a decade ago has been a great achievement, according to the Treasury minister.
Charles Parkinson was speaking after an event in Jersey to celebrate the anniversary of its installation.
‘Since it was put in, the Channel Islands have brought 500m. euros-worth of electricity down the pipe from France. And it has substantially reduced our carbon emissions.’
Deputy Parkinson added that Guernsey’s cable link to Jersey had increased the island’s resilience to potential problems of supply.

yes, you see there is much more good coming from the continent, tourism, power, support, better food. I hope I do not need to repeat myself again that a) we should strengthen our ties with the continent (e.g. good air connections) b) loosen our ties with the “mainland” (what good do they offer) and finally comply and switch to the European timezone (like all our fellow Europeans)
once there was the famous The Times article : ‘fog in the channel, Europe cut off” this is history and never coming back. Guernsey needs to go ahead and embrace the continent!

Tidal Power coming to Alderney one day?

Coming to Alderney when it has been transported over to France and then we have to buy it back again at probably the same expensive price that we are paying now. We pay approx 3 x as much as Jersey and Guernsey pay for power!
