Lee SavidentBARRING a mathematical miracle Appleby 8s have won the Grant Thornton Division One with two games of the season remaining after beating Rovers with what could be described as one of the best fielding performances since the ICG opened nearly two years ago.

Appleby struck 101 in the first innings with Lee Savident (pictured) and David Hooper top-scoring with 33.

Then everything descended into chaos as David Wilbraham and Mitchell Le Tissier found themselves on -49 without actually playing that badly.

A total of 10 run-outs later and Rovers had been put through their paces by some simply awesome fielding, losing 101 to -26.
