A FIRST victory for the footballing boxer and a close call for Gage Demore were the highlights of the opening dinner boxing show of the season at St Pierre Park.
Jack Domaille, the big North centre-back, won inside the first round and will have to wait for at least his second bout to discover what it is like to be punched on the chin, such was the embarrassing ease with which he won this opener.
The light-heavyweight encounter was, in all honesty, a big let down as Rob Fernandez, a late replacement for Domaille’s scheduled opponent, clearly did not have the appetite for a fight.
Had it been a horse race there would have been an inquiry because as soon as Domaille, the bigger boxer and with a reach advantage, began to pepper Fernandez, the lad from the North West Counties made absolutely no attempt to fight back.
