‘It was like an engine had blown up – really scary’
Tuesday 30th November 2010, 2:29PM GMT.
PASSENGERS have described the terror that gripped a Flybe flight after lightning struck the plane.
The aircraft was hit at about 9.30pm on Sunday as it approached Guernsey from Jersey.
Passengers spoken to by the Guernsey Press confirmed travellers screamed as they heard a loud ‘explosion’ as they saw the bolt flash outside their windows.
Flybe confirmed the incident, but denied reports that the aircraft had dropped 200ft and been left with a hole as a result of the lightning strike.
GTA University Centre deputy chief executive Fiona Naftel (pictured) was one of 66 passengers on the flight and said it was really frightening.

I love this story.
My parents were on this flight and when reading me the story on the phone earlier were laughing at the extreme inaccuracies in the report. The only part of the story that actually happened was the ambulance being called for a female who had a panic attack.
You have to love the media who over exaggerate their stories to sell papers, HAHA
