Police to target communities with most problems

HOLDING meetings between police officers and people living in certain targeted neighbourhoods would help strengthen community ties and cut down on crime, the Home minister has said.
Geoff Mahy, pictured, said he was pleased to see movement within the force to get more officers from behind desks and out into the community through consultative meetings with the public.
But unlike previous years, these would be more focussed on neighbourhoods of concern rather than large sectors of the community.
Deputy Mahy said that would help police get information first hand and give the community a stronger voice.
