A garage boss and bank staff foil cruel £47k con

Conman David Bougourd's efforts to obtain a Range Rover from Jackson's Garage were thwarted by its manager and the staff of Lloyds TSB in St Martin's.
A MAN who ‘befriended’ an 88-year-old dementia sufferer tried to con her into buying him a new car.
David Bougourd, 45, claimed he was the woman’s grandson when he took her to Jacksons Garage, at the Airport, the Royal Court heard
He told general manager Peter Campbell, that his ‘Nan’ would be buying him a £47,544 Range Rover which he had test driven two or three weeks earlier.
But the scam failed due to the swift thinking and actions of Mr Campbell and staff at the Lloyds TSB St Martin’s branch, where the defendant was arrested.
Bougourd admitted one count under the new fraud law, of making a false representation, for which he was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.

Pretty crass comments [yet again] from the defending Advocate in the full article too. Along the lines of it wasn’t the most serious type of fraud to be attempted on an eldely lady. How do these people sleep at night? Ah, on mattresses stuffed with bank notes I suppose.
