‘Alderney is my only allegiance’
Tuesday 14th December 2010, 2:29PM GMT.
LAWYER Paul Arditti believes his lack of ‘baggage’ helped him storm to victory in the race to become one of Alderney’s two representatives in Guernsey’s States.
The 59-year-old topped Saturday’s poll by more than 200 votes – just a fortnight after being elected to Alderney’s government for the first time.
London-born Mr Arditti (pictured), who moved to the island four years ago, has entered politics to turn Alderney’s economy around and help improve links with Guernsey.
He thinks islanders backed him as his only allegiance is to Alderney itself.
