THE scoreline was a tad cruel on the Guernsey Colts side as the Wasps took advantage of late fatigue in the home ranks to comfortably progress into the next round of the Under-19 National Colts Cup, 47-10 winners.
But there was much to admire about the home team’s performance at Foote’s Lane given both the quality of the opposition and the perennial problem facing Guernsey junior sides – lack of matches.
Wasps took just four minutes to register their first try, but as Guernsey dug in it was not until the half-hour mark that they added another.
It was just 14-0 at the break and early in the second half the Garenne Stand erupted as the impressive Luke Jones kicked a good penalty to get his team on the scoreboard.
