Review ‘not over yet’ as Jersey clings on to zero-10

Geoff CookANOTHER leading Jersey financial figure is refusing to accept that it is time to move on from zero-10.

Despite HM Treasury saying last week that the UK viewed zero-10, taken as a whole, as harmful, Jersey Finance chief executive Geoff Cook (pictured) said the UK government’s statement used ‘some unclear language’ and he was supporting Treasury minister Philip Ozouf’s position on the matter.

HM Treasury has said it supports Guernsey’s efforts to replace zero-10 and wants to see Jersey and the Isle of Man follow suit, but Jersey officials, including Senator Ozouf, have stood firm in their belief that the EU Code of Conduct Group’s review of zero-10 had not yet finished.
