TAPS were pouring once again at one of Town’s oldest watering holes when the Prince of Wales reopened yesterday.

Randall’s Brewery managing director Ian Rogers said he was delighted the pub’s former name would be returning after it became the Lemon Wedge in 2004, then promptly failed.

Great old traditional pub, in its hay day, but can’t say I recall the clientele consisting of inebriated advocates, jurats, magistrates and Saturday night muggers, about to appear in court, all having a few harmonious bevies before the Clerk of Court called for order. If it was the mugger’s round next, then the magistrtae may have had to let him off….!!!

    Great news!

I was a regular at the old Coal Hole in my youth and have always thought The Wales was one of the more architecturally picturesque bars in town.

Best of luck to the new owners!
