Greens avoid Jersey

Saturday 18th December 2010, 2:30PM GMT.

Tony VanceGUERNSEY have been seeded for next year’s NatWest Island Games and as a result cannot meet Jersey in the group stage.

The three medallists from Aland 2009 [Guernsey, Jersey and Aland] have all been seeded ahead of the group stage draw, as well as the hosts Isle of Wight.

It means that due to Tony Vance’s side winning the bronze medal last time around, they cannot play any of those three sides until at least the semi-final stage.

That is a luxury that Vance (pictured) did not have last year after Guernsey skipped the 2007 Games in Rhodes and they were subsequently drawn in a ‘Group of Death’ with Gibraltar, Ynys Mon and Froya.
