Chamberlain produces the goods at the perfect time

HAVING the Island Women’s Championship staged at La Grande Mare for the first time this season suited Jan Chamberlain down to the ground.
The 2010 Channel Islands champion was a member of the west-coast club for several years before getting into the Royal and her local knowledge proved crucial as she regained the Guernsey title in a thrilling final with young starlet Aimee Ponte.
Chamberlain (pictured_ never led during the scheduled 36-hole match, but was always in with a shout and took it to sudden-death extra holes.
On the first of those – the 37th of the match – her opportunity arose and she grasped it with both hands, although she gave much of the credit for her successful 15ft birdie putt to friend and caddy Mandy Hardman.
