Hangar rejection ‘same as putting out island closed sign’
Monday 20th December 2010, 1:00PM GMT.
GUERNSEY could lose a substantial amount of business if controversial plans for a new aircraft hangar are not given the go-head, according to those behind the proposal.
Architect and keen flier Rob Le Page (pictured), who put the plans together, was speaking after some people living in the area expressed concerns about its impact on the environment, on children walking to school and about the noise from the potential development to the west of the Aero Club.
‘Private and general aviation is a big earner for Guernsey plc,’ he said.
A Chamber of Commerce survey in 2003 stated that those activities brought between £36m. and £40m. a year into the economy, which he thought would by now have doubled.

If this goes ahead I will be building my very own Hangar on my green belt next to my house. Hope everybody else does the same.
After all, these hangars make a lot of money, I’m thinking about hanging my clothes in mine.

Ahhh yes we have to build this or it will be the end of the world as we know it….

Hangar rejection ‘same as putting out island closed sign’
Yet another exaggerated claim to add to the previous ones in this debate. OK so some business might be lost but I can’t imagine Specsavers or Healthspan will move their operations off island if this hanger doesn’t get built. I doubt the vast majority of people that do business with the island will notice.

I thought we had been through this when the Warbirds museum wanted to relocate from blackbushe years ago, what was the outcome?.
Who owns the land.
And (rob) we dont really credit the chamber of commerce with having the collective brains of a wooden rocking horse after the snow comments ,so best not to include them.

The world as we know it gets more disgusting, even in Guernsey! It’s like an evil spreading oil slick! Those opposing a new hanger at the airport advise of added destruction to the environment, of inceased danger to children walking to school, and of increased noise that will contribute to islanders ill-health as noise does. Yet all Architect and keen flier ( which says it all!) Rob LePage can talk about is money!! The only thing that he offers in his support of the applied for hanger is…..MONEY. MONEY MONEY MONEY! The environment, the children, human health, all have no place in ‘keen flier’ Rob Lepage’s book! How appalling you and your exaggerated claims are Mr LePage. And with a surname such as yours, you should be ashamed. Be off, away with you from this beautiful island, go join the John Nettles, the Martin Clunes and never return.

It’s always been the same; those richer people have that insidious way.
They appeal in words of untruths trying to frighten people into backing their selfish demands.
Because it is a selfish demand.
They and he; that flying chappie, like flying. the world is your oyster, but keep your hands off Guernsey for your selfish ways,
We have enough to contend with. with the ruling body alone is more than enough-
As was said many years ago
“Get thee behind me.”

I wonder if that architect Rob Le page stamped his foot, and cried out ” It’s not fair.”
when his proposal or thoughts were so stupid when he didn’t get his own way.

It is narrow minded people like you that give the island a bad name.
You might not like it but the old days have long gone, Guernsey has to keep up with the times.
If you’d prefer the environment to be left alone, children not at danger from traffic and little noise I suggest you move to Sark!
