NORTH managed to close the gap on leaders St Martin’s by just a solitary point in the only FirstRand Division One match to survive the weather at the weekend.

And Ross Cameron’s men left it very late to do it, too.

In a dramatic finish to the Grand Fort Road derby at the Corbet Field, Vale Rec saw a 2-0 lead wiped out in injury time as the chocolate-and-blues scored twice in less than two minutes with the 90 already up.

Simon Tostevin and Matt Loaring got the goals for the visitors, with Rec captain Gareth Holden scoring a brace for the hosts.
