Watson to make Fed Cup debut

HEATHER WATSON will become a British international next month when she represents Great Britain at the Fed Cup in Israel.

The tournament is the women’s equivalent of the famous Davis Cup, with GB playing in a round-robin format in Europe/Africa Zone Group One, the third out of five tiers in the competition.

The actual opponents have not yet been confirmed, but could potentially include Denmark, who will be represented by world number one Caroline Wozniacki.

Starting on 31 January, each tie will consist of two singles rubbers and a doubles, with matches being played on consecutive days.
