Court says restaurant can open to joy of new proprietor

A RESTAURATEUR spoke of his relief yesterday after the Ordinary Division of the Royal Court gave him permission to open.
Paddy Scally, 41, was granted a licence last week for The Old Quarter – the restaurant that was formerly Brown’s, where he was head chef for Mel and Dana Brown.
But conditions were imposed that Mr Scally (pictured) could not operate his business because a licence for the premises held by Mrs Brown, who has left the island owing money, had not been surrendered.
The court yesterday amended the conditions to allow The Old Quarter Restaurant to open its doors for the first time last night.
