Big medal haul for GSC at Up and Comers Meet

Thursday 23rd December 2010, 2:29PM GMT.

GUERNSEY Swimming Club sent a team of 20 swimmers to this year’s AIB Tigers Up and Comers Meet in Jersey.

The whole team performed fantastically, returning with 29 medals between them and 61 personal bests.

This event is aimed at those younger competitive swimmers who have not as yet reached medal standard at CI level. Consideration times are set and those swimmers recording times three seconds faster than that are issued with ‘speeding tickets’.

Competing in the youngest age group, the eight-year-old boys, Luke Winstanley performed brilliantly, winning gold in the 50m breaststroke with a personal best of 1-01.83. He also won three silver medals in 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 100m IM in personal best times of 41.82, 51.70 and 51.98 respectively.
