A breakthrough year for new CI champion Blondel

IF THERE was an award for most aesthetically pleasing sporting performance of the year, you could easily argue the case for every time Danny Blondel steps on the golf course.

The island star’s swing has long been regarded as one of the best around and this summer it brought with it the rewards he deserved.

In May, he won the first of what will surely be several Guernsey Championships before following it up with victory in the Channel Islands final.

At the culmination of the week-long Island Championship, Blondel (pictured) met defending champion Andy Eggo in a repeat of the 2009 final and it proved to be a cracker.
