EUROPEAN cricket will have a strong Guernsey flavour to it after the announcement that Dave Piesing has been elected as the Division One representative to the European Cricket Committee.

The appointment comes after a restructuring of the European senior events programme because of the addition of T20 pathway tournaments and it was felt that the structure of the ECC did not now reflect this programme.

Piesing (pictured) was nominated and then voted into the role and the ICC’s regional development manager Richard Holdsworth believed it was an indicator of how far Guernsey cricket has come in recent years.

‘The ICC continues to strive to improve the standard of its events, tournaments, player development and education of coaches and officials,’ he said.
