This Christmas gets Dave the turkey’s vote

IT HAS certainly been Dave the turkey’s Christmas – first he was saved from the Christmas roast and now he has a new companion, Cheryl.
When Alderney resident Steve Roberts bought Dave last spring, he planned to fatten the bird up to become the centrepiece of his Christmas lunch.
But after months of rearing the bird, Mr Roberts could not bring himself to kill him.
‘He is very friendly,’ he said. ‘He is so tame and curious and will eat out of your hand. I bought him as a poult from Guernsey last spring so I could eat him for Christmas. I never expected to have any problems.’
