Town shops benefit from postal problems

POSTAL delays caused by the snow in the UK have helped some Town traders.
Some shop owners have seen a rise in trade from islanders who were put off ordering gifts online by the weather or those who were buying them again in case parcels did not arrive.
‘Ironically, the weather probably has worked in favour of the traditional retailer,’ said Creasey’s managing director Tony Creasey. ‘This year there has been a great deal of difficulty with deliveries in the UK.’
But he also said that the bad weather in Guernsey a few weeks ago had damaged trade.
