Crew commander cooks for fire family

FIREFIGHTERS on duty spent Christmas Day with their honorary second family.

After a quiet morning – one false callout by an automated fire alarm and one incident involving a cat stuck up a tree – the nine firefighters were able to enjoy their Christmas dinner.

Acting watch commander Danny Joyce said they had tried to create as much of a festive atmosphere as they could.

‘Christmas is very much a time for family and the Fire Service is like an extended family,’ he said.
