Jailed for assaulting her, man sues former partner for £1,500

Tuesday 28th December 2010, 2:29PM GMT.

A MAN who is serving a prison sentence for assaulting his former partner is trying to recover money he claims she owes him.

John Flint was jailed for 10 months in September after he was found guilty on two counts of assaulting Ann Thomson.

At a contested hearing in the Petty Debts Court, Mr Flint, 50, argued that Ms Thomson owed him £1,500.

He said the couple’s relationship was already over in mid-December last year and that he was staying with Ms Thomson at her home in the Grand Bouet as a friend.

As the estate had been due for demolition, he said Ms Thomson asked him to lend her £1,500 as the deposit for a flat.

He had done that on the understanding that she pay him back at £10 per week.

The matter was adjourned until January.
