Martel loses out to the well-timed ‘Xcelleration’

THE acceleration came just when required from Martin Ozard and Steve Morris.

Chasing the big class 1 series title in the Dunnell-Robertson Winter Series, they stole the championship from under the nose of rival Roger Martel.

Fourteen boats made class one the largest fleet of yachts in the series and in a very tight battle for first place between Moojo, owned by Martel, and Xcellorator, jointly owned by Ozard and Morris, only a point separated the two after the final race with Xcellorator coming out on top.

Unusually, both class two and the Melges were won by boats counting firsts in every race.
