Consultants are top target in savings contest

THE winning entrant in The Guernsey Reform Group’s Community Savings Initiative Competition suggested that the States should stop employing consultants.
Debbie Dorey, who was one of about 60 entrants, won £250 for her effort.
She said the States could learn from management at her firm, which last year asked staff to do a ‘glass box initiative’.
‘We worked in groups and came up with ideas for where we saw the company in five years’ time,’ she said.

Isn’t that just common sense? She’s basically become a consultant herself. What a waste of £250, these solutions should be in the Deputies minds already, it’s what we pay them for!

You’re telling me that they employed, what was effectively a consultant, to tell them not to employ consultants?
You couldn’t make it up, only on Guernsey folks!

If I remember correctly the contest was organized privately and the total prize fund was donated by local firms so Miss DD was not employed by the States at all
