Course work needs approval, planners tell the Race Club

Wednesday 29th December 2010, 2:29PM GMT.

Jim JamouneauA PLANNING application for improvements to racecourse safety was not submitted prior to work because Guernsey Race Club was unaware it was needed, its president says.

But Jim Jamouneau (pictured) questioned why the Environment Department had waited till the work had been finished before letting them know.

‘If we had known we needed planning we would have submitted it at the time,’ he said.

The Environment Department rejected the notion it had waited as it was made aware of the earthworks only on 6 October and the site was immediately visited.
