Land for hangar not in the green belt – architect
Wednesday 29th December 2010, 1:00PM GMT.
PLANS for a new aircraft hangar to the west of Guernsey Aero Club are not on green field land, the architect behind the application has said.
Fletcher Aviation wants to erect the hangar to provide additional accommodation for private aircraft, but the proposal has not been well received by some neighbours.
Forest parishioners against the plan say the development will create more noise, traffic and pose safety problems for children walking to the nearby primary school.
They have also said that the field the hangar could be built on is green-belt land. However, architect Rob Le Page (pictured) said that the land was listed as white, undesignated in the Rural Area Plan.

The land next to my house is also white, I just painted it (just like Rob Le Page).
Will be using a local business for the work on my hangar, and will be selling illegal goods from it, as well as hanging my clothes.

I thought it was only donkeys that were stubborn,
It seems that architect bloke keeps on,
They have said no that’s NO. or doesn’t he speak
English.
Why should valuable land been given over to private use?

Islander/Eric, shame you can’t read English. They haven’t been told no.

By George you’re so right,
But perhaps I am not alone in not reading English, after all it’s the PEOPLE who count in all things and THEY have said no.
As for reading English, well there again you could be right, after all English isn’t my native tongue. It’s a language forced on not only our Island but the whole of the UK- so perhaps the Anglo-Saxon didn’t do it so well either.

Well Eric, I live in the road in question and have no problem with the proposed hangar at all (and no I don’t have a plane). By your strong feelings on the matter I take it you live in the area and will be effected by it?
The people haven’t said no, a few people have said no. I think that most of their concerns have been addressed. There will be no noticable extra traffic, and i’ve hardly ever seen children walk in the thin part of the lane anyway.
The lane’s already got a shedload (excuse the pun) of hangers in it. The location where it is planned to be will hardly be visable anyway.
As far as your comment about valuable land being given over to private use, I think that you’ll find that’s fairly common in Guernsey. It applies to houses, fields, businesses, in fact all areas apart from those owned by the States or common land.
So what is your native language then? Norman French? Well that was forced on Guernsey, because we were part of Brittany before they took over. Norman French is no more the original language of Guernsey than Chinese is.

Well George:
I think you had better read a little more about the Islands history,
What you say is what the English want you to believe- but it isn’t true.
It goes back to their misery of 1066.
They in all walks of life hate being bettered, you see that in sport(Sport?)
Jersey had more from Brittany, they were the ones who always sided with the Crown; we had more sense.
However believe what you will- we Know.
