COBO businesses have welcomed plans to refurbish a car park which has been at the centre of a bitter ownership dispute.

The Castel constables have put in a planning application to introduce a new layout for the area next to the Checkers XPress shop, resurface the area, extend the pavement, install a bus shelter and create a bus lay-by.

‘It really needs it – it is an eyesore. I haven’t seen any plans, but whatever they do it will be better,’ said Cobo Bay Hotel and Rockmount licensee David Nussbaumer.

‘That whole area needs smartening up, but there should still be somewhere for the boat owners because they are part of Cobo as well.’
