Sarnians make most of a journey into the unknown

LOOKING back at my first six or so months in the job, it does not take long to pick my highlight of 2010, which in one word was always going to be Croatia.

The Uefa Regions Cup in September was the biggest tournament Guernsey had ever reached and the destination for my first trip abroad as a GP reporter.

And boy did that week on the breathtaking Adriatic coast have everything: sun, sea and sand, with temperatures regularly over 30C and some decent football to boot.

But before I start on that, I suppose it would be foolish not to at least mention the game that got Guernsey to Croatia, the now-famous FA National League System Cup final back in May.
