Seigneur says no to Brecqhou offer of a meeting

BEHIND-the-scenes moves to end the long-running dispute over Sark’s feudal status were disclosed yesterday.
Details of private correspondence between Sir David Barclay and Seigneur Michael Beaumont (pictured) towards the end of last year and a series of other letters at the start of 2009 have appeared in a General Purposes & Advisory Committee report, to be discussed by Chief Pleas on 19 January.
But the release has attracted an angry response from Brecqhou with Advocate Gordon Dawes, speaking on behalf of Sir David, describing it as an ‘appalling breach of confidentiality’ and a ‘crude spoiling tactic to undermine Sir David’s attempts to bring this dispute to an end and to divert attention from the real issues affecting Sark, such as the proposed housing law’.
