Guernseyman dies in French avalanche

Jamie Whalley running in Guernsey in 2003. Friends of the son of Sue and Dave Whalley heard last evening of his death in a skiing tragedy yesterday morning.
A LOCAL man has been killed in a huge avalanche in the French Alps, it was confirmed today.
Jamie Whalley, who was in his early 30s, was among four skiers to have died in the tragedy at the Val d’Isere resort yesterday morning.
He was skiing with a group of seven people, including a professional guide, when the accident happened.
Mr Whalley, the son of Sue and Dave Whalley, of Target Auto Parts Ltd, and brother of Maxime, was a pilot and owned a house in Brighton. He visited the island often to see family and friends.

I too would like to send our sincere condolences to Dave & Sue on the tragic death of their son Jamie. Bonny and I hope that the memories of Jamie will help give you strength though this painful time and there is no doubt that the light he brought into the lives of so many people will never fade.
