NIALL ADAMS proved the most successful of three Guernsey players competing at the Tecnifibre British Junior Open, but all found the experience beneficial.

The Sarnian trio, who also included Thomas Stewart and Jack Turvey, were competing in the under-13 boys’ event in Sheffield, with Adams seeded to progress into the second round.

He did that with a hard-fought win over Yousef Forster, while Stewart and Turvey both suffered defeats at the hands of higher ranked opponents.

Adams then lost out to Scott Galloway in the main draw but, with every player scheduled to play in each of the six rounds to determine final placings, the Guernsey boys were able to pick up valuable experience with matches against different opposition.

Adams finished in 25th place, Stewart was 51st and Turvey 58th.
