Post warns of possible rate rises
Friday 14th January 2011, 1:00PM GMT.
POST rates could be set to rise next year as the UK price for first class stamps will increase by more than 10%, Guernsey Post has warned.
Royal Mail has already announced that the price of a first class stamp in the UK will be going up by approximately 12% from April 2011.
These increases are likely to have a knock-on effect on charges to the island but Guernsey Post has said the extent and timing of this is not yet clear.
Guernsey Post chief executive Boley Smillie (pictured) said he was currently negotiating with Royal Mail to reduce the potential impact its price increases may have on customers in the Bailiwick.
