Proposed dental x-ray fees are ‘unjustified and unfair’
Saturday 15th January 2011, 2:29PM GMT.
A PROPOSAL to charge dental patients referred to the hospital for X-rays is unjustified and unfair, according to a professional in the field.
Former chairman of the Guernsey Dental Association, Dr Nav Khaira (pictured), said the plans to charge dental patients £50 were inconsistent, because those from doctors – who could also refer patients for dental x-rays – would not have the fee applied.
‘For some reason, they are going to charge dental patients and not doctors’ patients – there is no reason other than to make money from it.’
He said that, although it did not happen often, doctors could send patients for dental X-rays and would not necessarily have the knowledge to spot or treat a dental problem.
